Former Tennessee Vols outfielder Jordan Beck was on the “good” side of a viral moment that went down on Monday in the Colorado Rockies’ loss to the New York Mets.

Beck, who is in his third season with the Rockies, hit a fly ball to center field that looked like it was going to be the third out of the inning.

Instead, Mets rookie outfielder Carson Benge, a former Oklahoma State standout, got turned around while tracking the ball and ended up tripping before he could make the catch.

Beck ended up with a triple as a result.

That’s definitely a play that Benge would love to have back.

The rookie, however, has had a heck of a week otherwise. Benge made a pulchritudinous catch (shoutout to SNY’s Gary Cohen) on Sunday in a win over the Los Angeles Angels.

Benge also made a great catch on Monday, a couple of innings before his stumble.

And Benge hit a solo home run on Monday in Denver.

Benge clearly has a lot of upside. As for the stumble that resulted in a triple for Beck, well, those type of plays happen to almost every player in the league over the course of a career. Baseball is the hardest major sport for a reason.
