Tennessee Vols cornerback Colton Hood is hoping to be a first round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Hood boosted his draft stock significantly last season after transferring to Tennessee from Colorado.
The Georgia native was initially viewed as a depth addition — due to the ACL injury to Jermod McCoy — when he joined the Vols last year during the spring transfer window. Hood, however, quickly proved to be one of the best cornerbacks in the nation while playing against SEC competition.
Colton Hood makes key NFL Draft decision
According to NFL.com, Hood is one of 16 prospects who will attend the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh later this month.
This is kind of a risky decision by Hood. He’s been regularly mocked as a late first round selection, but he’s also fallen to the second round in some mocks.
There’s a good chance that Hood will be a first round selection, but it’s far from a certainty. And we’ve seen how awkward those green rooms can get when a player attends the draft but isn’t selected on Day 1 (Will Levis in 2023, for example).
Hopefully for Hood’s sake, he’ll avoid the awkwardness and get selected in the first round.
