There's a heatwave in Knoxville right now and it has nothing to do with the temperature outside.

The Tennessee Vols on an incredible recruiting hot streak.

On Sunday, the Vols landed a commitment from five-star defensive end Dylan Brooks. On Monday, four-star defensive back Kamar Wilcoxson announced his commitment to Tennessee.

Four-star wide receiver Julian Nixon committed on Tuesday.

And on Thursday, the Vols received commitments from three-star running back Tiyon Evans and five-star linebacker Terrence Lewis.

This is incredible work by Jeremy Pruitt and his staff. It's even more incredible when you consider that it's happening the midst of an unprecedented pandemic.

Fans should be especially excited about Lewis, who is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 2 player in the state of Florida and the No. 10 overall 2021 recruit in the nation.

247Sports national writer Charles Power describes Lewis as a player who is "instinctive as a run defender and blitzer with the ability to pick his way through the line and make tackles for loss". Power also says that Lewis "has high-level closing speed and ability to chase plays down in pursuit" and "shows proficiency in coverage".

The NFL comparison that Power makes for Lewis?

Chicago Bears linebacker Roquan Smith, a former first round pick (No. 8 overall) that was coached and recruited by Pruitt at Georgia.

Smith was the SEC defensive player of the year in 2017. If Lewis can live up to those expectations, I think Tennessee's defense will be in pretty good shape.

Interestingly, Lewis is actually a higher rated recruit that Smith was in high school.

By the way, the Vols might not be done adding elite talent. Lewis told VolQuest that more commits could be coming in the near future for Tennessee, as early as Friday.

There's something special brewing on Rocky Top.
