The true freshman that Tennessee Vols fans should expect to see a lot more of against Florida and Vanderbilt
The Tennessee Vols have two big games remaining this season — against the Florida Gators and the Vanderbilt Commodores.
The Tennessee Vols may have lost a key starting player to injury in their 42-9 win over New Mexico State on Saturday.
Vols tight end Miles Kitselman suffered what appeared to be a knee injury in the second half of the win. Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel didn’t provide an update on Kitselman after the game. The senior tight end, however, walked very gingerly off the field after being down for several moments.
If Kitselman misses time, it will provide an opportunity for true freshman tight end Dasaahn Brame to see extended action.
In fact, even if Kitselman doesn’t miss time, Brame should still be in position to see more playing time over the final two weeks of the regular season (on the road against the Florida Gators and at home against the Vanderbilt Commodores).
Josh Heupel says Tennessee’s been ‘planning’ on Dasaahn Brame helping the team down the stetch
Brame didn’t catch any passes against New Mexico State, but he saw some action in the win against the Aggies.
After the game, Heupel was asked about Brame and the plan for him moving forward.
“DaSaahn’s continued to grow,” said Heupel. “A guy that missed, well, all of spring ball, and as he’s come back, learned how to play in the core. [He’s] extremely gifted out in space; he’s natural. You saw him out there some tonight, but certainly [he] has an opportunity to help us down the stretch. And we’ve been planning and working towards that.”
Brame has caught five passes for 54 yards so far this season. He caught three passes for 38 yards in Tennessee’s loss to the Oklahoma Sooners. It certainly sounds like Vols fans will see a lot more of the former four-star recruit in the final two weeks of the regular season.

Josh Heupel is the best thing to happen to the Tennessee Vols in several decades. When Heupel took over in 2021, in the immediate aftermath of the Jeremy Pruitt recruiting scandal that rocked the program, most folks in the media felt like it would be five or six years before the Vols would even fight […]
