With the midseason point fast approaching, it's a good idea to go ahead and keep tabs on the upcoming top-10 teams picking in the 2024 NFL Draft.

We will update this post on a weekly basis to reflect the latest order. Keep in mind that, with a trade, the record and strength of schedule of the team trading its picks are factored into the equation. Therefore, the Chicago Bears' current No. 1 overall slot is based off the Carolina Panthers' 0-6 record and .518 strength of schedule, and so on and so forth.

Note: Draft order and strength of schedule (SOS) numbers are from Tankathon.com.

Current teams picking in the top-10 of the 2024 NFL Draft

1) Chicago Bears (via Carolina Panthers)

Record: 0-6
SOS: (.518)

That's right, the Bears are still sitting pretty with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft thanks to their offseason trade with the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers are currently 0-6 and play the 3-3 Houston Texans in Week 8. Will Bryce Young be able to get his first NFL win over C.J. Stroud? If that happens, the Panthers are likely to retain the No. 1 pick because of the strength of schedule tiebreaker over the Arizona Cardinals.

Next opponent: at Los Angeles Chargers

2) Arizona Cardinals

Record: 1-6
SOS. (.571)

Much like the Bears, the Cardinals are in familiar territory when it comes to owning a top-3 pick in the draft. They were pegged to select No. 3 overall in 2023 before trading back with the Houston Texans to No. 12 (and then they traded up to No. 6 in order to grab Paris Johnson Jr.).

The Cardinals take on the surging Baltimore Ravens in Week 8. While you never want to say never in the NFL, it's likely the Cardinals are still holding this spot down as we head into Week 9.

Next opponent: vs. Baltimore Ravens

3) Chicago Bears

Record: 2-5
SOS: (.451)

The Bears could easily find themselves in the quarterback mix if Justin Fields doesn't show consistent progress once he's healthy. That thumb injury couldn't have come at a worse time.

It remains to be seen if Matt Eberflus and Ryan Poles are still in Chicago after 2023. If they are, they'll have a great shot at adding some major talent, yet again.

Next opponent: at Chargers

4) Denver Broncos

Record: 2-5
SOS: (.513)

Sean Payton clearly needs all the help he can get when it comes to turning the Broncos around. He's going to get that help if his team continues the pace its on, as Denver is on track for a top-5 pick in the draft.

The rumors about a trade deadline fire sale continue to surround the team. That'll obviously play a big role in whatever direction they decide to go in – if it happens, of course. Either way, this team has plenty of needs and they will be able to fill one in 2024.

Next opponent: vs. Kansas City Chiefs

5) New York Giants

Record: 2-5
SOS: (.535)

Brian Daboll and co. have careened back to Earth in 2023 and the end result could very well be a high draft pick. Much like the Broncos, this team has plenty of needs and are also set at quarterback (in terms of being locked into a contract). That should make for an interesting sequence if these two teams stay in place.

Next opponent: vs. New York Jets

6) New England Patriots

Record: 2-5
SOS: (.544)

If this holds, it'll be the Patriots' highest draft position since 2001, when they took Hall of Famer Richard Seymour with, yep, the No. 6 overall pick in the draft. That year also represents the start of the Pats' dynasty, as they would go on to upset the then-St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI.

A lot has obviously changed since then and there are plenty of directions the Pats could go in if they hang onto No. 6. Would they shake things up and go after a QB? I certainly wouldn't rule it out.

Next opponent: at Miami Dolphins

7) Green Bay Packers

Record: 2-4
SOS: (.452)

The Packers are currently on pace for their first top-10 selection since the team took B.J. Raji with the No. 9 overall pick in 2009. This will be an interesting selection because the team currently has eight former first-rounders on the defensive side of the ball and a lot of young offensive talent that was selected in the first couple of rounds of past drafts, as well.

The initial thought is to go offensive line since the team is struggling a lot in that area, but it's still early enough to where it's almost impossible to nail it down.

Next opponent: vs. Minnesota Vikings

8) Los Angeles Chargers

Record: 2-4
SOS: (.513)

It's pretty wild to see a team with an elite quarterback sitting in the top-10 of the draft, but alas, this is the Chargers we are talking about.

LA is in awful cap shape for 2024, so it wouldn't be a surprise if they were to move back. That way, they get more players on cheap rookie contracts that can help navigate the salary cap waters.

Next opponent: vs. Bears

9) Tennessee Titans

Record: 2-4
SOS: (.536)

If this holds, it'll be Mike Vrabel's first top-10 pick as head coach of the Titans. Tennessee has a lot of needs and took former Kentucky QB Will Levis in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. But, that may not stop them from going after a QB, again, if they aren't happy with Levis' development by the time late April rolls around.

Next opponent: vs. Atlanta Falcons

10) New Orleans Saints

Record: 3-4
SOS: (.411)

The Saints are currently part of a six-way tie for the No. 10 overall pick. They're already more than $71 million over the cap in 2024, so a high draft pick isn't the worst of news if things stay the course.

They're on the hook for at least one more season with Derek Carr, so it would be interesting to see what New Orleans does with this pick.

Next opponent: at Indianapolis Colts

Remember, this will obviously change on a week-to-week basis, so be sure to check back in every Tuesday morning for the most recent update(s).
