‘I’m furious’ — At least one Rams defender is entering into Ravens matchup with an extra edge as Baltimore looks to avoid 1-5 start to 2025
You’re not going to like him when he’s angry…
Lamar Jackson isn’t practicing this week, including today’s session to wrap up the week. It means he’ll likely miss his second game of the 2025 season, a pivotal matchup for the Baltimore Ravens against the Los Angeles Rams. With Baltimore sitting at 1-4, urgency is at an all-time high. They’ll need to slay this challenge without their star quarterback.
Jared Verse is pissed about it. Verse, one of the league’s best young pass rushers, will play the Ravens for the first time, but a matchup with Jackson appears as though it will need to wait.
Rams star Jared Verse is “(expletive) furious” he’s missing out on playing Lamar Jackson

“I’m (expletive) furious about it, (if Lamar can’t play)” said Verse on Thursday, with a laugh.
“I wanted to play Lamar just because he’s one of the best quarterbacks currently, and you put him in that conversation of not just running quarterbacks, but (best) quarterbacks ever. He’s up in that conversation. But also, you have to plan differently when he’s not playing. We’re still going up against an NFL quarterback, still very good.”
Indeed, with Lamar Jackson not participating in Friday’s practice, he appears to be out. And while Verse’s competitive nature may be snubbed with Sunday’s matchup, his stat sheet may appreciate it when this is all said and done.
Baltimore Ravens’ record without Lamar Jackson since 2019
- The Baltimore Ravens have a 4-11 record since 2019 without Lamar Jackson at quarterback
- Includes one playoff loss versus Cincinnati in 2021 (17-24)
- Includes one loss already in 2025 versus the Houston Texans (10-44)
The Rams will presumably face backup quarterback Cooper Rush on Sunday, which should be considered a major cause for concern after a punchless effort with Rush behind center against the Texans in Week 5. The Rams’ defense isn’t quite at that same caliber as Houston’s, but it isn’t far off that pace either.
Los Angeles has had extra success against the run. They have faced Saquon Barkley, Jonathan Taylor, and Christian McCaffrey the last three weeks. None has gotten more than 76 rushing yards. Derrick Henry could be next. And with no Lamar Jackson to offset the focus on the run game, Verse and company should be well equipped to bottle things up.
Even if the Rams’ star pass rusher is pissed about it.
