Buffalo Bills urged to sign former All-Pro and top NFL free agent remaining that would make Josh Allen’s life a lot easier in 2026

We are nearing mandatory minicamp and the Buffalo Bills have their 2026 season for the most part. However, Buffalo could be smart to take a look at a former All-Pro offensive lineman sitting on the free agent market.

The Buffalo Bills went 12-5 last season and weren’t able to get past the divisional round. Buffalo has had an eventful offseason with various improvements to the roster and a new head coach with Joe Brady now at the realm.

Buffalo upgraded its pass-catching room by making a trade for DJ Moore, but they could still help QB Josh Allen a bit more ahead of the season with another key signing.

All-Pro free agent could be a fit for the Bills this summer

Buffalo could use some reinforcement on the interior of its offensive line still. Left guard is a question mark for the Bills and a spot they could still add to. Bleacher Report has named former Cleveland Browns LG Joel Bitonio as the one player Buffalo should sign before the season starts. Bitonio, a two-time first-team All-Pro with 12 years of experience, would be a plus addition inside for Allen’s offensive line.

“The Buffalo Bills face uncertainty at left guard after David Edwards departed for the New Orleans Saints in free agency”, Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report wrote. “They may look to replace Edwards through a camp competition involving Alec Anderson and Austin Corbett. However, scooping up free agent Joel Bitonio might make such a competition moot.”

Losing Edwards in free agency as mentioned was a loss for the Bills. Offensive line talent is hard to find in the NFL, at least up to the level a team competing needs. Bitonio would be able to step in and be the starter for the Bills in 2026.

Bitonio is currently weighing retirement, or playing another season. When he signs it’s going to be a one-year deal wherever that is. The former Nevada standout has missed two games since 2016 and has been an iron man of sorts in Cleveland. Pro Football Focus gave Bitonio a 70.7 grade in 2025 with a 75.7 pass blocking and 64.4 run blocking grade.

Bitonio has played in just three playoff games during his career and he’d get the chance to in Buffalo barring something surprising happening. The Bills should take a look at Bitonio and the former Browns’ fan favorite would be smart to give signing with Buffalo some thought too.
