Bills Day 2 mock draft after trading out of the first round: Buffalo beefs up both sides of the football with two slam-dunk additions
The Buffalo Bills had no first-round selections in the 2026 NFL Draft. Brandon Beane worked his magic and allowed the team some extra draft ammunition. Here’s our Day Two mock for the Buffalo Bills in the 2026 NFL Draft.
The Buffalo Bills didn’t hold any first-round selections in the 2026 NFL Draft. Instead, general manager Brandon Beane worked his magic and got some additional draft ammunition. The team traded with the Houston Texans, New England Patriots, and Tennessee Titans to move out of the first round entirely.
After trading for wide receiver DJ Moore, Buffalo didn’t hold any second-round picks, but that all changed after Beane worked his magic. Now, with Day Two of the 2026 NFL Draft nearly underway, we wanted to do a Day Two mock draft for you all using perhaps the best mock simulator on the planet. Seriously, give it a try.
There are several pressing team needs, but we just let the board fall and were lucky enough to land two difference-makers on both sides of the football. We have a feeling Bills Mafia will be more than a little thrilled with how the day turned out.
If it’s any indication of how the draft will actually go, Bills Mafia will be eating good, as the youths say. Without further ado, here’s our second round mock draft.
Round 2, Pick No. 35: Jacob Rodriquez, Texas Tech
The Buffalo Bills got their linebacker of the future with Rodriguez. The board fell perfectly for Buffalo to snag one of the best coverage linebackers in college. As the A to Z Sports mock simulator writes, Rodriguez has “elite instincts and rare field vision at linebacker. Butkus Award and Nagurski Trophy winner. Undersized at 231 pounds, he struggles against bigger interior linemen. Smart processor with instinctive play recognition.”
Rodriguez won over the hearts of Bills Mafia during the Combine, where he was asked who he modeled his game after and mentioned both Bills linebackers Terrel Bernard and Matt Milano. A match made in heaven for Buffalo and new defensive coordinator Jim Leonahrd. Still would like to see the team bring back Matt Milano on a vet minimum deal.
Buffalo waited, and with their first selection in the 2026 NFL Draft, they got quite the steal with Rodriguez.
Round 3, Pick No. 66: Ted Hurst, Georgia State
Another big win for the organization. As is any time you can pair quarterback Josh Allen with an elite talent at wide receiver. Hurst fell perfectly to Buffalo, who could use some help in that room specifically. General manager Brandon Beane said that the team wouldn’t shy away from drafting a wide receiver despite trading for DJ Moore, and that’s exactly what Buffalo did with the No. 66 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Hurst, as the A to Z Sports mock simulator writes, is a “6-foot-4, 206-pound X receiver with massive catch radius and dominant catch-point play. 95th percentile contested catch rate. Small-school breakout; release consistency and separation need refinement against NFL corners.”
If anyone is going to help elevate Hurts to the next level, it’s Josh Allen.
With their first two selections of the 2026 NFL Draft, Buffalo looks to build on both sides of the football, all while giving fans exactly what they’ve been begging for. A linebacker and a wide receiver, both of whom fell right into Buffalo’s lap.
If this is how the board actually plays out later today, Bills Mafia will be more than a little thrilled at the work Beane and company have done through the early stages of the draft.
