Grading The Pick: Bills add a physical playmaker in head-scratching move by drafting Davison Igbinosun with 62nd pick in the 2026 NFL Draft
The Buffalo Bills want to get nasty on defense, and they did exactly that by trading for the Denver Broncos to take Davison Igbinosun with the 62nd overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. It’s head-scratching because of the clear team needs above cornerback, but a win nevertheless.
The Buffalo Bills are continuing to add firepower to new defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard’s new defensive scheme. With the first two picks of the 2026 NFL Draft, Buffalo wound up drafting on the defensive side of the football.
We don’t have to remind fans of the failures of the defense in some of the biggest moments, and it feels as though general manager Brandon Beane is doubling down to ensure that doesn’t happen again. Cornerback depth was an issue for Buffalo, as behind Christian Benford and Maxwell Hairston are a bunch of question marks.
With the 62nd pick of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills selected Ohio State cornerback Davison Igbinosun.
The Bills select Davison Igbinosun, CB, Ohio State, in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft
This is a big win for the organization, though it feels as though the pick may have been better utilized for a defensive tackle or a linebacker. There are plenty of more pressing team needs for Buffalo, which can make the decision feel like a head-scratcher.
Still, Igbinosun will undoubtedly help the organization in a big way. He’s a run stuffer who has high football IQ, and Jim Leonhard has to be more than thrilled it’s the direction the team went. Another big win from Beane and the organization on draft night.
He’s a very willing physical player, which is something the organization is trying to add to the defense. While his coverage skills may be lacking, he’s a dominant force.
A to Z Sports Brandon Little broke down what Igbinosun brings to the table.
Igbinosun is a physical, tough cornerback who has a chance to be a solid starter in the NFL if he can avoid the penalty issues that plagued his college career. The former Ole Miss transfer is a high-energy player despite being a man of few words. Igbinosun is at his best as a press corner, using his hands early to reroute wideouts. However, deep routes can give him trouble, as he often becomes too handsy with the ball in the air.
A three-year contributor at Ohio State, Igbinosun played in 56 college games between the Big Ten and SEC. He was an iron man of sorts, rarely missing time, and possesses a solid frame at 6-foot-2, 190 pounds. I view Igbinosun as a reliable CB2, provided he doesn’t let his physicality become a liability. There’s an even higher ceiling if he can clean up those issues.

Another physical defender for Buffalo, though the pick could have been used better elsewhere
While it’s a win that the team gets more physical, we can’t help but argue that there were better players available at higher positions of need. It’s still a win by the organization, but not the best grade, all things considered. Hoping that Igbinosun proves us all wrong and winds up being a true alpha on the defense.
A to Z Sports prospect analysis: 6’2″ corner with rare size, length, and physicality combination. Excellent in press coverage and run support. Penalty-prone (16 PI/holding in 2024); dramatically improved technique in 2025.
Grade: B-
