Bills’ Josh Allen hit with some major disrespect ahead of the 2026 season, and it’s impossible to ignore
The Buffalo Bills have arguably the best player on the planet playing quarterback for them in Josh Allen. However, despite that, he still finds himself wildly disrespected on the national level. When is it going to end?
The Buffalo Bills have the best quarterback on the planet playing for their football team, if you ask the Bills Mafia. What he’s able to do on the football field is sometimes near impossible. On more than one occasion, Allen has thrown on his Superman cape and helped lead his team to victory, overcoming all the odds along the way.
He’s a face of the league, and for good reason. While he still hasn’t hoisted the city’s first Lombardi Trophy, his abilities are impossible to ignore.
Ahead of the 2026 season, Allen found himself widely disrespected at the national level. Sam Block from ESPN released his NFL QB1 rankings heading into the season, and Allen falls to No. 2, sitting behind Patrick Mahomes.

Let’s just take a look at their 2025 season numbers to get a better idea of what Block might have been thinking with his evaluations.
For Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, he finished the 2025 season playing in 14 games, going 315-for-502 (62.7%) for 3,587 yards with 22 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He added 64 carries for 422 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. Not bad numbers by any means.
Now let’s take a look at Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen’s 2025 season in comparison. He played in all 17 games, going 319-for-460 (69.3%) with 3,668 yards and 25 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. Allen also added 112 carries for 579 yards and 14 touchdowns.
So Allen had a higher completion percentage, more passing yards, more passing touchdowns, fewer interceptions, more rushing yards, and more rushing touchdowns. He also helped his team make the playoffs, if you’re into that sort of thing.
And yet somehow, that still isn’t enough.
If these rankings are supposed to reflect who the best quarterback in football is right now, not legacy, not rings, not reputation, then it’s hard to make any logical case against Allen.
He didn’t just match Mahomes in 2025; he beat him across the board and did it while carrying a heavier load.
At some point, the conversation has to shift from what Allen hasn’t done to what he continues to do every single season. Because if this is what “No. 2” looks like, then the rest of the league should be very worried about what happens when he finally gets the respect he deserves.
