Shedeur Sanders spills how he really feels about Bills QB Josh Allen ahead of Buffalo and the Browns’ joint practice
Cleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders spoke out about buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen ahead of Thursday’s joint practice.
The Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns will hold joint practices Thursday in Northeast Ohio, and the matchup brings intrigue for both rosters.
Joint practices remain one of the most valuable parts of training camp, giving teams a controlled environment to evaluate their players against another opponent. If all goes according to plan, Buffalo won’t play many of its starters in Saturday’s preseason game because they’ll get a heavy workload during Thursday’s practice session.
Much of the focus will fall on Bills quarterback Josh Allen and how he looks against what should still be a strong Cleveland defense, even without Myles Garrett around. The Bills’ defense will also be tested by some Browns playmakers. Cleveland’s biggest question remains at quarterback, where Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders continue to battle for the starting job.
Shedeur Sanders shares respect for Josh Allen ahead of Thursday
Ahead of Thursday’s joint practice, Sanders had a strong comment about Allen and how he views the Bills quarterback as a player.
“He’s always been cool, I’ve always respected him, fully,” Sanders said. “He plays a great game and his style of play fits him perfectly, so, I like that about him.”
Sanders is still pushing for the starting quarterback job in Cleveland and one day hopes to reach the level of play Allen has sustained as one of the best quarterbacks the NFL has to offer. The two signal-callers are at very different stages of their careers and bring very different skill sets to the table.
Sanders is more of a pocket passer who isn’t going to use his legs much. Allen can beat a team with his arm and his legs, and that makes him a far more dangerous player. Allen is entering his ninth year in 2026, while Sanders is entering just year two.
Sanders does have a tendency to look for the big play, similar to what Allen did at a higher level earlier in his career. Sometimes that approach burns Sanders. That’s a spot the Bills will have a chance to take advantage of during joint practice and the preseason game, where Sanders is expected to see action.
Butralo’s secondary is going to have a chance to force turnovers on Thursday and Saturday, and the defensive line generating havoc is a must. Saturday’s preseason game will be a 1 p.m. kickoff.
