The Chicago Bears’ signed prized free agent linebacker Tremaine Edmunds to a four-year deal on Monday.

Edmunds is undoubtedly the star of the Bears’ free agent class at this point. Starring in the middle of the Buffalo Bills’ defense for his first five seasons in the NFL, Edmunds grew into a versatile inside linebacker.

Not only did Edmunds lead the Bills in tackles in four of his five seasons, but he developed nicely into an above average pass defender. He was a weapon for defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, but his productivity priced him out of the Bills’ offseason budget.

Below is a clip of Frazier discussing Edmunds' growth last season.

Frazier, who is taking the 2023 season off from coaching, reached out to the Bears' coaching staff on the big win in free agency.

The Bears stated that Frazier told ChicagoBears.com that he texted head coach Matt Eberflus and DC Alan Williams a congratulatory message on landing "one of the premier linebackers in our league."

That is high praise.

This just shows how highly Frazier though of Edmunds during their time together with the Bills. This should only add to the confidence boost Bears fans are feeling as Chicago has been the biggest spender since the legal tampering period officially began on Monday.
