Bo Nix is already doing exactly what he should be with his newest weapon Jaylen Waddle at Mandatory Minicamp
The Denver Broncos could have an elite duo in QB Bo Nix and WR Jaylen Waddle.
The Denver Broncos are in a unique position. They didn’t get a fair shot at making the Super Bowl last season, but this sport is never fair. However, they have made the necessary moves and could easily be the best team in the AFC this season, especially with the dynamic duo they now have.
The Broncos made the trade for Jaylen Waddle this offseason. They needed more speed and guys who created home-run-like plays. They got just that from the former Miami Dolphins wide receiver, who will now have an even better, more accurate QB now.
So his game could also improve in 2026. On Tuesday, the first day of Mandatory Minicamp, the two hooked up on several passes. It’s clear that Waddle and Bo Nix are already developing chemistry, and the passes we saw between them were pretty good, even though they weren’t against a defense.
Bo Nix talks the addition of Jaylen Waddle
“There’s an element of explosiveness that I think as an offense we’ve lacked for a couple years,” Bo Nix told reporters on Tuesday. “We’ve had plenty of explosive plays, plenty of points, all that kind of stuff. We’ve made great strides, but there was a level of explosiveness that a guy like that adds. Just seeing him get out here and move and run around. You just can’t replace speed. That’s just what he brings to the table. He’s extremely fast with the ball in his hands.
“He looks like he doesn’t really slow down to make cuts, which is pretty tough to do for a fast guy. He’s just going to add an element of relief for everybody else and take a little bit of the touches so that other guys don’t have to take them all. Once those guys take them, they’re fresh and ready to take them. I think a guy like that makes everybody on the offense better, and then it obviously helps the defense in the same way.”
Nix finished with nearly 4,000 passing yards, 25 passing TDs, and 11 interceptions. He also finished with 356 rushing yards and five rushing TDs. He’s no top-five QB in the league, but he knows how to win football games. And now, he will have even more help winning those football games. And who knows, with a lethal weapon like Waddle, Nix’s numbers could increase dramatically.
The Broncos had the eighth-most intended air yards last season, per Sports Info Solutions. Yet they are 17th in passing yards, which means they’re not really completing passes downfield when they throw deep. Having Waddle will help with that, and we could see a whole new version of Nix unlocked.
