NFL insider says Denver Broncos may not be done addressing a key position in free agency
The Denver Broncos could still make some big additions in free agency.
The Denver Broncos entered the offseason with the expectation that the franchise would add a difference-maker at either tight end, wide receiver, or running back.
So far, though, that hasn’t been the case.
The Broncos haven’t signed an outside free agent at any of those positions, opting instead to “run it back” — at least for now.
NFL insider thinks Denver could still be active in the tight end market
Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, a longtime NFL insider, isn’t convinced the Broncos are “done” at tight end.
“I’m not sure the Broncos are done yet at tight end. Denver has had interest in Dallas Goedert, and David Njoku is still unsigned,” wrote Breer on Monday.
Goedert signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles over the weekend, so he’s no longer an option for the Broncos.
Njoku is still available, and he’s an elite talent when healthy, but he’s battled with injuries in recent seasons.
Signing Njoku, who turns 30 in July, to a team-friendly one-year prove-it deal could be a savvy move by the Broncos.
Njoku was a Pro Bowler the last time he played a full season (2023) in the NFL. He missed five games while dealing with a knee injury last season, catching 33 passes for 293 yards and four touchdowns.
