Micah Parsons sets record straight after NFL video sparked confusion about Caleb Williams claim that reignited Packers-Bears discussions
Edge defender doesn’t seem to think Williams is the best player in the NFL, but a Top 100 promo video makes it look like this was his opinion.
The NFL released a promo video of its Top 100 players ahead of the 2026 season. In that part, there was a sequence of players talking about who the best player in the entire league is in their evaluation.
It clearly made it look like Green Bay Packers edge defender was answering that question by saying it was Caleb Williams, the quarterback of the rivals Chicago Bears. Well, it turns out the story wasn’t exactly that.
Micah Parsons’ reaction to the promo video
Parsons went on social media to give a hint about what truly happened. As you could imagine, there are more details behind what the video made it look like.
The star defender posted on X that the NFL is “clip farming,” indicating that the promo video doesn’t show exactly what Parsons said, with the idea of promoting the final version of the Top 100.
And that’s fine. The NFL would always want to create controversy and generate interest for people to watch it and consume the product. At the same time, we have to wait for the full video to understand what Micah Parsons actually said. Whether that wasn’t about Caleb Williams or was taken out of context.
Intriguing rivalry
There’s no way around it: Micah Parsons and Caleb Williams refreshed the Packers-Bears rivalry. As Parsons said, the Packers won the game when he was on the field last season. However, the Bears won two games without Parsons, including one in the playoffs.
It’s still up in the air if Parsons will be ready to go in time to play the Week 5 game this upcoming season, as he is still recovering from an ACL injury. But in the long run, these two personalities will offer a lot to excite fans when the NFC North rivals face off.
But let’s be clear: Before being the best quarterback in the NFL, Caleb Williams has to become the best quarterback in the NFC North first. And he hasn’t been that so far, despite his perceived and unquestioned ceiling.
