Colts linked to All-Pro WR amid concerns of the pass-catching unit after Alec Pierce’s injury and Michael Pittman’s departure
The Colts could use some more weaponry along their perimeter, and there might be just the man for the job on the trade block sooner rather than later.
The Indianapolis Colts had a very busy offseason. Two core tenets of their red-hot start in 2026 were quarterback Daniel Jones and wide receiver Alec Pierce.
Both of those players are back in 2026, after healthy extensions this offseason. However, from a health standpoint, questions linger about both players’ readiness, and the Colts offloaded Michael Pittman Jr. to the Steelers this offseason. So what’s the one remaining move they should make? Another addition at WR.
Colts’ remaining offseason move should be an addition at WR
“The Indianapolis Colts re-signed big-play receiver Alec Pierce this offseason, but they also traded away Michael Pittman Jr. They didn’t draft a receiver before taking Deion Burks in Round 7 and should look to add a veteran before camp.”
“That could mean signing a player like Keenan Allen or Stefon Diggs. The Colts should also consider making a play to reunite A.J. Brown with head coach Shane Steichen.” – Kristopher Knox, Bleacher Report
A.J. Brown 2025 stats
- 78 receptions.
- 1,003 receiving yards.
- 7 receiving touchdowns.
Would A.J. Brown make sense in Indianapolis?
Shane Steichen has coordinated offenses to be among the best in the league when he’s at the helm. You look at what he did with Justin Herbert, Jalen Hurts, and now Daniel Jones, and it’s obvious that he has a feel for the position.
But he’s also a master at scheming his players open. When Pittman was in Indy, it was a lot of in-breaking routes—concepts between the hashes. But with Daniel Jones, he’s a quarterback who likes to live outside the numbers.
Well, we know the Colts have one of the best vertical stretch players in the league with Pierce. Now imagine adding another stretch player, one who many believe to be among the best in the league, to the opposite side with Brown.
Oh, and he already has a history of excelling in the offense, and he has chemistry with the head coach. It seems like a no-brainer to me, and a call that Chris Ballard has to consider making.
