The Kansas City Chiefs are wasting no time getting some players back under contract after Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Chiefs have re-signed practice squad DT Isaiah Buggs on a reserve/future contract. He's one of 17 players who will see their practice squad contract expire now that Super Bowl LVIII has concluded. If you're unfamiliar with reserve/future contracts, you can find the players K.C. already signed and learn more about them here.

Buggs quickly responded to Pelissero's report on Twitter (X) to confirm that he'll return for the 2024 NFL season.

Buggs originally signed to the Chiefs' practice squad in early January, after the Detroit Lions released him. He was not elevated from the practice squad during the postseason, but this was more about getting him acclimated to the system so he could hit the ground running in 2024.

A former sixth-round draft pick out of the University of Alabama by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2019, the 27-year-old Buggs appeared in 10 games with three starts for the Lions this season. He recorded 12 total tackles, one sack, a pass batted, and a fumble recovery. In 2022, he appeared in all 17 games for Detroit, including 13 starts, boasting a career year statistically, with 46 total tackles, one sack, 10 QB hits, two passes batted, and a forced fumble.

Next season, he could be a big part of the Chiefs' plans as they have several pending free agents along the defensive line.
