Wednesday was supposed to be a day of celebration, with families flooding the streets of Kansas City to celebrate the Chiefs Super Bowl championship.
However, the day took a horrible turn when shots were fired around Union Station. And it claimed the life of one individuals while over 20 others were seriously wounded, including numerous children.
So Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany went to the hospital and visited two of the shooting victims.
Elizabeth Lopez-Galvan was shot and killed, while other members of her family were wounded from the shooting. She is related to the Reyes family, with two of the daughters, one who is eight years old and the other who is 10 years old, having suffered gunshot wounds.
Both were shot in the leg and will have a long recovery ahead. The family has released a statement, expressing their gratitude for all who have helped their family in recent days.
And that includes Patrick and Brittany Mahomes.
“We want to give a personal thank you to the staff of Children’s Mercy Hospital and Patrick & Brittany Mahomes for their outpouring care, love, and support,” the Statement said (via FOX 4).
Following the shooting, Patrick and Brittany Mahomes immediately responded to the tragedy at the parade on social media.
The Chiefs quarterback posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, while Brittany posted on Instagram.

A GoFundMe was created for Elizabeth Lopez-Galvan, having nearly raised $280,000.
