Klint Kubiak answers the question regarding a rookie’s position that everyone is wanting to know after recent OTAs practice

The Las Vegas Raiders selected several versatile players in the 2026 NFL Draft. They like guys who could make themselves available to help win in a few different ways. The Raiders started that trend with Treydan Stukes in the second round. They continued it in the third round with Trey Zuhn.

Stukes played the F-Kat position at Arizona, a mix between the slot and free safety spot. He’s played some outside cornerback in his career, along with some strong safety as well. Zuhn has played every position on the offensive line imaginable. He’s mainly played left tackle, but had to play on the interior this last season. Zuhn was drafted by the Raiders as an interior player; however, he could play more than just guard or center.

The idea when he was drafted was that he would be part of that very large battle on the interior at the guard position. But at OTAs, he’s been starting at right tackle. Now, that doesn’t mean that’s where he will start during the season, but it’s certainly odd that’s the first position he’s really played as a starter, at least that’s been reported.

“Yeah, really drafted Trey [Zuhn III] to be able to play a lot of positions, so whether it’s tackle, guard, center, he’s learning it all. He’s got everything between the ears to do that, and so we’re going to give him a chance to help us in all areas of the line,” Klint Kubiak told reporters after OTA practice on Wednesday.

Trey Zuhn is likely the reason the Raiders didn’t address a position in the draft that we thought they would

Vegas went after an interior in the draft in Zuhn. We thought they would take at least one tackle near the back end of the draft, but they didn’t. Instead, their final three picks go to cornerback, wide receiver, and then defensive tackle.

Now, it’s starting to become more obvious that the Raiders may just look at Zuhn as a potential backup tackle if something goes wrong. They have so many guys at guard who can start, like Jordan Meredith, Caleb Rogers, Spencer Burford, and Jackson Powers-Johnson. Zuhn, who you could also throw into that, could just be their tackle.

At this point, there’s still so much mystery surrounding those positions on the offensive line. However, it’s certainly something to keep an eye on throughout the offseason.
