On Wednesday, media and reporters had the opportunity to speak with the Las Vegas Raidersnew defensive coordinator, Rob Leonard. After that, Maxx Crosby, Jeremy Chinn, and Malcolm Koonce also spoke.

The man of the hour was Crosby, of course. The guy’s offseason has been a big storyline in its own right. He was almost traded to the Ravens, and of course, the knee issue has been a big thing, too. Now he’s at OTAs, not working out with the team, but doing everything else he can. He’s hyping up his team, he’s stretching with them, and doing anything else he’s been allowed to do. Crosby revealed he’s almost ready to return and shared how this recovery has been different for him.

Maxx Crosby talks offseason recovery

“I’m not working to just come back, I’m coming back better, and that’s my mindset,” Crosby told reporters on Wednesday. “This has been an amazing offseason. I know the biggest pet peeve of mine is people they see me, they’re like, “Man, you good?’ and I’m like, “S***, I’ve never been better.’ Honestly, I don’t just say that to say it; I truly mean it and believe it. Rick Slate and I are together every day, finding new ways to improve.

“And I say it has been better because I’ve been able to focus on other different things; whether that’s being in the weight room – I’m moving more weight than I ever have and doing things in a different way and able to get my body probably the proper rest that it actually needs. I know one speed, I’ve only been on ‘Go’ for the last 20-something years, working my tail off, I know that. So, this has forced me to have to take a step back in certain areas and not run 8,000 yards on the field every single day.”

Crosby revealed that he’s been working out in ways he doesn’t usually. For example, lifting more and building more muscle. That can be hugely beneficial for him, especially at this point in his career. Crosby is strong already, but we all know he’s a bit long and lanky. He wins with finesse, twitch, and speed far more often than with power. Maybe that can change.

The Raiders will need the best version of Crosby in 2026. And, the way he’s working out and rehabbing, they could get that. This is the best, most balanced edge rusher in the NFL. In just 15 games last year, and playing through injuries, he finished with 10.5 sacks. Imagine what he could do with a better defense and healthy.
