On Sunday, the Las Vegas Raiders held a training camp practice, and it didn’t start nearly as well as many had hoped. After a preseason win over the Houston Texans, the team headed back to Henderson, Nevada, for practice. But in this session, running back Ashton Jeanty was injured.

According to several reports from reporters and Insiders at practice, Jeanty was helped off the field at practice. The injury was in a way you don’t really expect your star running back to be injured, but it happened nonetheless.

Here’s what we know about Ashton Jeanty’s knee injury at Raiders training camp practice

On Sunday during practice, the Raiders were getting after it. On a play that saw Jeanty running a route, he dove for the pass, trying to catch the ball. Somehow, he and cornerback Darien Porter collided. Then, Jeanty lay on the ground for quite a second. From there, the team shut off the music playing at training camp.

Everyone went quiet. Players began to kneel and say a prayer over the second-year running back. The trainers came out and helped Jeanty off the field. Everyone was so silent and looked worried. They helped him off in a way that was more like carrying him, as he couldn’t put any weight on his right leg. We are not entirely sure if it is a knee injury. But from all accounts from people at practice, that’s certainly the way it seems.

Jeanty did not return to practice, and from there on, it felt pretty somber. This is a player the Raiders are relying on to have a big year in 2026. The offensive line should be much better, and the run game should thrive more because of that. They were one of the worst run teams in the league last year. Having Jeanty is crucial for their offense, especially in a Klint Kubiak-type of scheme.

Jeanty finished his rookie year with just under 1,000 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. He did, though, finish with 1,321 scrimmage yards and 10 scrimmage TDs. Jeanty was hit behind the line of scrimmage more than any other running back in the league, and they brought on the necessary pieces to fix the run game. If he’s out at all, it will be a huge blow. But the Raiders are definitely prepared for that now with Mike Washington Jr. However, you hope that everything is okay.
