The Las Vegas Raiders get an unfair ranking in the offseason moves rankings list put out by CBS Sports.

The Raiders have been active in the 2023 offseason, as have most teams. But I don't think most teams have had to do what the Raiders have had to do – replace their franchise quarterback of nine years. With Derek Carr out, some tough decisions had to be made. The Raiders made the best decisions possible for the team in both free agency and the 2023 NFL Draft.

When it came to the draft and their process, they could have addressed it a lot better. But, overall, they had an amazing draft. There is one pick, maybe two that I don't think they should have made, but then again, they had 12 draft picks before the draft.

When you package together their free agency and draft, you would think they would be somewhere near the top if you ranked teams based on how they did, right? Well, wrong, apparently. One CBS Sports analyst has the Raiders in the bottom half of the league when it comes to that particular ranking.

19. Raiders: By themselves, QB Jimmy Garoppolo, WR Jakobi Meyers, and returning starters RB Josh Jacobs and OT Jermaine Eluemunor are just fine, keeping the offensive floor relatively high after the dual exit of Derek Carr and Darren Waller. But unless you consider Aidan O'Connell a feasible successor for the oft-injured Garoppolo, they'll probably remain in no man's land under Josh McDaniels. The infrastructure has changed, but how about the overall talent level beyond, say, first-round pass rusher Tyree Wilson? – Cody Benjamin, CBS Sports

19th in the league is pretty crazy, especially when you factor in the fact that the Raiders did moves that make them better on paper with the system they have in place. They got guys who know how to run the offensive system McDaniels has in place.

They grabbed the best tight end in the draft in Michael Mayer, one of the most underrated cornerbacks in the draft, and even grabbed a quarterback who has a shot to be the future of this team. They did a multitude of things that were best for what the Raiders want to be. I don't know how anyone could say that based on all of the moves they made, they didn't get better, let alone have one of the best offseasons.
