The Las Vegas Raiders have now filled the two most positions on their staff – the head coach in Antonio Pierce and the general manager in Tom Telesco. However, they are still without pretty much the entire offensive side of the ball.
According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the Raiders are adding one more name to the list of offensive coordinators they are interested in; this one is Mike Sullivan.
They have been doing countless interviews with guys who have either been an offensive coordinator before or guys who are working their way up the ranks. In this case, Mike Sullivan, the Steelers quarterback coach, was an offensive coordinator with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2012-13 and the New York Giants from 2016-17.
Here is what A to Z Sports Pittsburgh's Rob Gregson had to say about Sullivan in terms of what to expect if he is hired:
Mike Sullivan is beloved inside the locker room, according to players and sources. His upbeat nature is analogous to an offensive Pete Carroll. Pittsburgh was pleased with Sullivan's ability to generate offense after taking over as interim play-caller following Matt Canada's firing. Sullivan coordinated an offense that went undefeated down the stretch when either Kenny Pickett or Mason Rudolph started and finished the game. From what I understand, the only reason he's not staying on as QB Coach in Pittsburgh is because the team doesn't want to create an awkward situation between him and the soon-to-be-hired OC. Sullivan is expected to have a hot market and would be an excellent addition to any offense. – Rob Gregson, A to Z Sports
The Raiders have some tough decisions to make over the next week or so, and Sullivan will certainly remain a name they are interested in.
