In a season that has the Las Vegas Raiders sitting at the bottom of the AFC West, Derek Carr has been uncharacteristically average.
That is a bad thing.
Carr isn't the reason the Raiders are struggling, but he hasn't been part of the solution either. With Davante Adams, an elite wide receiver who came to Las Vegas to compete for a Super Bowl, Carr ranks 14th in DYAR. He was in the top 10 for three straight seasons prior to this year.
His raw counting stats aren't that much better. Carr has thrown for 2,128 yards (15th in the NFL). He has combined that production with 13 touchdowns (12th in the NFL) and a 58.4 QBR (10th in the NFL).
Carr has been the living definition of average. He isn't moving the needle offensively, but he also isn't making the team worse. That's the sad reality of the Raiders' quarterback situation — Carr will never move the needle for Las Vegas.
The good news is Carr restructured his deal so the Raiders can cut bait this offseason if better options open up.
