“That contract made me overly excited.” – Aaron Brewer. Yes, I’d imagine it did…

The most urgent of the Miami Dolphins‘ looming contract extensions would seem to be running back De’Von Achane. Achane, who is in the final year of his rookie contract in Miami, did not report with the rest of the team for offseason workouts, which started last week.

But Achane’s contract isn’t the ONLY pressing one in South Florida. Linebacker Jordyn Brooks and center Aaron Brewer are both well-deserving of new deals of their own. Both are also in contract years. And both collected All-Pro honors in 2025. Brewer, the anchor of Miami’s offensive line, got a big boost for his outlook on a new deal when fellow center Tyler Linderbaum blew the lid off the market for centers. Linderbaum signed a three-year, $81 million deal with the Las Vegas Raiders last month.

And now Brewer has chimed in on the market reset while joining Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team on ‘NFL Spotlight’.

“That (contract) made me overly excited, man. I’ve been just watching the market in the NFL, you look at the receivers getting paid, D-ends, defensive linemen, safety, corner…every position in the league is getting paid something crazy other than offensive line and running backs. Definitely when I came in, before then. It’s always been my question, I never understood why centers were so underpaid but they always so ‘oh the position is so important’…just to see Linderbaum get blessed with that amount of money for all the work he’s put in…I love that for him. And I love that for all the centers to come after it.”

The disparity between centers and the tackle play in the NFL is a great callout by ‘Brew’. Top-tier tackles were getting twice the money that centers were, and in the last few years we’ve seen guards like Trey Smith, Robert Hunt, and Aaron Banks all log more money on new contracts than what the previous top-paid center, Creed Humphrey, was receiving from the Chiefs. That’s all changed.

The Linderbaum contract totally changes the scope and perspective contracts — with Brewer well aligned to be the next center to benefit from the reset. Linderbaum’s new high-water mark reset the center market by a whopping 50% over the previous record. Many new-wave contracts will fill in the $9 million annual gap between the two.

That’s where Miami’s quest for a new deal with Brewer will take them. The big question is how close to $18 million versus $27 million will a potential deal settle? If they can’t come to terms on an agreement, Brewer will play in 2026 for $7 million. The good news for Miami? Just last week, Brewer did concede he foresees something in ‘the near future’ when chatting with our old friend, Terron Armstead on Armstead’s ‘The Set’.
