Dolphins GM Jon-Eric Sullivan addresses whether Miami is open to trading RB De’Von Achane
The Dolphins’ exec made it crystal clear about where he and the franchise stand on their superstar running back.
The Miami Dolphins have seen a number of notable names from the team’s old guard fly out the door since the 2025 season came to its merciful conclusion. Tyreek Hill and Tua Tagovailoa were released, and Jaylen Waddle was traded to the Denver Broncos.
However, the last remnant of Miami’s diminutive but dynamic playmakers remains on the roster in RB De’Von Achane. And his future in South Florida has been a popular talking point lately as he enters the final year of his rookie contract in 2026.
With speculation swirling about him being potentially moved, as he and the team engage in contract extension negotiations, Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan addressed the situation during his press conference on Wednesday. And, according to him, the team has no plans of moving on from its star running back any time soon.

“He’s not available for trade,” Sullivan said. “Things are going good. We’ve had some positive conversations over the last couple of days. Trending in the right direction. He’s obviously very important to what we’re doing. It’s all part of it. It’s part of professional sports. We’ll get to where we need to be one way or the other, but yeah, things are trending in the right direction.”
Achane, who did not show up to voluntary OTAs earlier this month, certainly made himself plenty of money, particularly over the last two years. Last year, Achane tallied 1838 yards from scrimmage (1350 rushing, 488 receiving) along with 12 total touchdowns.
He’s not the only internal free agent mouth to feed remaining though. Linebacker Jordyn Brooks and center Aaron Brewer are also entering the final years of their contracts and are due extensions from the team. That being said, it doesn’t sound like those extensions will get done very soon.
“That’ll work itself out,” Sullivan said. “They know where they stand. We’ve had conversations. They know how important they are to this team and where we are with them, the timing of that. That’ll work itself out. There’s nothing pressing to get something done in the next couple of days.”
