NFL Combine interviews should spark buzz around these three EDGE fits for the Miami Dolphins
Media day for the pass rushers highlighted several talents to watch for the Dolphins amid a dire need.
INDIANAPOLIS — The Miami Dolphins have a dire need in their pass rush department, and they know it.
The team’s leadership combination of Jon-Eric Sullivan and Jeff Hafley did acknowledge that their EDGE defender room is looking pretty barren on Tuesday — with Ch0p Robinson probably feeling like the Will Smith ‘Fresh Prince’ meme amid the looming departure of Bradley Chubb, who is presumably as a Post-June 1st cut. The good news for Miami is the team has draft picks…five of them in the top-100 to be exact. And that’s a very good looking place to have picks for any team, including Miami, that needs pass rushers. Here at the 2026 NFL Combine, defensive linemen did the media gauntlet on Wednesday. Here are three pass rush prospects who stood out to me for the Dolphins throughout the day of media.
Three 2026 NFL draft pass rush prospects at NFL Combine interviews who stood out amid Dolphins’ dire need of help

Tennessee Volunteers EDGE Josh Josephs
Josephs isn’t a “big” end, but he is a productive one. Josephs manufactured pressure on over 17% of his pass rush opportunities in 2025 with the Volunteers as a senior. Josephs corners well and, during his podium session, invoked the name Byron Young (Los Angeles Rams) as a name he draws from in the league. Young also played at Tennessee, although he is a bit heavier than Josephs played last season. He told media that he played in the low 240s in 2025.
I had the chance to ask Josephs about his best pass rush move and the implementation of it. He was well articulated in the details of the rush and its merits as a staple of his game.
Possible pick range for the Dolphins: Between 43rd & 75th overall

Missouri Tigers EDGE Zion Young
Young doesn’t pull any punches. As he told NFL media in Indianapolis, “you hear me before you see me.” He’s a “juice guy” who carries a great intensity about himself on the field. Young isn’t without some questions, though. He originally enrolled at Michigan State and his career there met an unceremonious end — he was part of a 2022 locker room fight between the Spartans and the Michigan Wolverines that was very public before transferring to Missouri. Young was also arrested and later charged for speeding & driving while intoxicated (DWI) in December of 2025.
From that standpoint, it is difficult to gauge how new football leadership in Miami will view him as a prospect. But if you simply boil things down to “tough, physical football players”, Young was an enjoyable interview who is quite clearly passionate about competing on the gridiron.
Possible pick range for the Dolphins: 43rd overall

UCF Knights EDGE Malachi Lawrence
I was surprised to find out that Malachi Lawrence played between 255 & 260 pounds this past season — as he told a handful of us at the podiums. Lawrence weighed in at the 2026 Shrine Bowl at 247 pounds, so it’s good to know his game can hold a little extra weight for the NFL level. His game is centered around speed, speed, speed to start but teams that give him a lot of open air to rush the passer are in for a very bad time. Lawrence is twitchy, bendy, and reactive — he credited his film study with fueling his big performance this year against Baylor, which is the game to turn on first if you want to see what kind of game he’s capable of having when at his best.
Possible pick range for the Dolphins: 75th, 87th or 90th overall
