Grading the signing: Jamaree Salyer signing on with Dolphins to infuse competition to the offensive line
The Dolphins just added a potential starter to their offensive line.
Say hello to the first big addition to the Miami Dolphins‘ roster this offseason.
Sure, the Malik Willis signing was big on dollars and even bigger on potential impact. But the signings this fanbase is hungry for are the ones like this — the ones that bring some much-needed beef to the party. The Dolphins franchise has been at its best with great offensive lines. It’s created a hunger for that once again as Miami tries to recapture its magic as a franchise. And new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan has promised to focus on building his team from the inside-out. The latest reported Dolphins signing offers them a chance to start working towards that. Miami is adding OL Jamaree Salyer.
Grading the Miami Dolphins’ reported agreement with OL Jamaree Salyer
Jamaree Salyer will reportedly join Miami after four seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers organization, where he surprisingly flashed during his rookie season in 2022 as a 6th-round pick. Salyer, across his four seasons with the Chargers, has rolled up 40 starts in 64 games and has illustrated positional flexibility. He’s posted over 1,00 career snaps at both left tackle and right guard; so there’s reason to believe he could be an impactful utility offensive lineman if he fails to secure a starting spot in Miami.
But there are starting spots to be had.
2025 rookie Jonah Savaiinaea struggled for much of last season, and he shouldn’t be considered a shoo-in to start for a new regime. The teams’ right guard position is wide open after the team flushed James Daniels from their ranks as a disastrous one-year signing in 2025, too.
Grading the fit
I love the fit. I asked for it earlier this week, too. But I don’t love it just for that. Miami needs players who have flexibility with where they can play. That’s ingrained into Salyer based off his tenure with the Chargers. Whether he ends up serving as a starting guard or a swing tackle, he’s got a safe spot among Miami’s top-8 offensive linemen and should be a lock for the 53-man roster. I’ll be keeping an eye out for the price point but I love the fit.
