Jordyn Brooks proves why he needs to be apart of the Miami Dolphins’ future in just a few short sentences
The Miami Dolphins would be foolish to part ways with LB Jordyn Brooks and he reminded us why on Tuesday.
The Miami Dolphins‘ future is something of a blank sheet. There’s very few players that Miami currently boasts long-term commitments to, although this year’s rookie class and RB De’Von Achane are primary among them.
There should be a few more players added to that list between now and the start of the 2026 regular season. First and foremost among them? Linebacker Jordyn Brooks. He’s been a stellar success story in South Florida the last two seasons and is currently set to enter into a contract year this season. The Dolphins would be foolish to let him go. And Brooks reminded us all why on Tuesday.
Jordyn Brooks proves why he needs to be apart of the Miami Dolphins’ future in just a few short sentences

“For me, I know I need to get better as a player so that’s why I show up. And then obviously, I never want to give the wrong message to the team or to my teammates. I play with these guys, go to battle with them, and I want them to know that I’m here no matter what, playing the game for the right reasons, and so I show up to work because that’s what’s required of me.”
— Miami Dolphins linebacker Jordyn Brooks
I mean…what else needs to be said. Brooks was a first-team All-Pro selection by the Associated Press last season. He was a team captain. A team leader. He played his best football regardless of the score, the record, or the circumstances. And here he is, pressing onward mid-May amid the South Florida heat, talking about needing to get better as a player and giving his teammates the right message — while staring down the barrel of a contract negotiation.
How do you not love Jordyn Brooks?
And if you’re the Miami Dolphins, how do you not do what needs to be done to make sure that he’s apart of the team and the culture you’re trying to build long-term. He’s a terrific talent and he’s in the prime of his career. The Miami Dolphins’ long-term payroll offers very little in the way of cash commitments. Let’s get this one done and celebrate.
There have been players in recent years in South Florida with multiple years left on their deal, at or near the top of their respective positions in compensation, who still found a way to fuss about their cash schedule. Many of them were the best players and the leaders of those teams. Count me among those who are noticing the difference. And, hopefully, that means things will take care of themselves on this front. Brooks has earned it.
