The rest of the NFL is telling us exactly what they think of last year’s Miami Dolphins roster
The NFL hasn’t exactly been very complimentary of the Miami Dolphins’ 2025 roster this offseason.
The 2026 Miami Dolphins are going to look (dramatically) different than the 2025 version of the team.
With the month of June now teetering closer on the horizon, we’ve been through several waves of NFL free agency spending — and there’s an interesting story being told about last year’s group. With at least two waves of free agency having come and gone, the talent pool is whittled down. It is, admittedly, not completely dry. When June 1st rolls around, another window of free agency spending will open. And there are a great deal many 2025 Miami Dolphins still left on the market.
NFL teams aren’t exactly complimentary of the Miami Dolphins’ 2025 talent pool with free agency this offseason

There are more than 20 players from last year’s 53-man roster, practice squad, and reserves who are still lingering on the free agent market as we enter the final week of May. The collection of Miami Dolphins players ranges from superstars like Tyreek Hill (injured), to core special teams players like Quinton Bell.
There are starters from last year’s team like Darren Waller and Ashtyn Davis still on the market, too. Depth players and specialists like WR Dee Eskridge, OL Daniel Burnskill, too. Perhaps the best player from last year’s team from an on-field perspective that is still left is CB Rasul Douglas. I have to imagine that he’s had offers. Douglas may not be able to run like he used to, but he’s as sharp as they come and a reliable, instinctive player. He could start for a team in 2026.
But the inventory of the rest of this group? Injured players like Tyreek Hill, James Daniels, and Liam Eichenberg may not find homes any time soon. Ifeatu Melifonwu, Davis, and Douglas were are all at least 50% snap takes for Miami’s defense last year. Waller was sensational out of retirement…when he was healthy enough to dress. The NFL hasn’t given any of them a deal just yet. Some of that the players may have some say in. But with nearly two dozen holdovers still without a team, the message sounds pretty clear as a whole.
