Drake Maye is establishing himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL this season.

He has led the New England Patriots to a 7-2 start, tied for the best record in the league. Maye ranks fifth among all QBs with 2,285 passing yards, first in completion percentage at 74.1, and is tied for third with 17 touchdowns passes.

He will look to remain hot against a tough Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense on the road in Week 10. If he does, Maye could make some NFL history on Sunday, which would further his case as an MVP candidate.

Drake Maye could join Aaron Rodgers in rarefied air on Sunday

During last week’s win over the Atlanta Falcons, Maye passed Patrick Mahomes for the longest streak of games (8) with 200+ passing yards and a 100+ passer rating by a player under the age of 24 all-time. If he can do so again this week against Tampa Bay, Maye will join Rodgers as the only two QBs in NFL history to do so in nine consecutive games.

Rodgers’ streak extends all the way to 12 games. If Maye can keep it going, he could break Rodgers’ record in Week 13 against the New York Giants. Maye has thrown for over 200 yards in every game but one this season, and has also posted a QB rating of over 100 in all but one game.

Maye has been lights-out during road games this season, throwing zero interceptions and recording a QB rating of over 100 in each one. If he can do it again on Sunday against the Buccaneers, Maye will join Tom Brady, Kirk Cousins, Nick Foles, Carson Palmer, and Tony Romo as the only QBs in history to do so in five consecutive road games.

Maye could then become the only one to do it six times in a row if he can pull it off against Tampa Bay and the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12. He has thrown for 986 yards and seven touchdowns in four road games this season, with a perfect 4-0 record.
