A.J Brown just proved yet again that he can’t help himself when it comes to taking shots at Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts
It’s only been weeks since A.J. Brown left the Eagles, but the news hasn’t stopped yet. His latest comments with his new team and quarterback prove that Jalen Hurts and the Birds might still be front of mind.
If you take a liking to gossip, drama, and downright surprising news, former Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown is your fix for everything in that category.
Since being traded to the New England Patriots, Brown has admitted to leaking stories to the media, saying that he and Jalen Hurts grew apart, and Brown even showed back up in Philly to say goodbye with a lasting statement, calling himself the best to ever do it at the WR position in Philadelphia. Well, now Brown is in New England, and the shots haven’t stopped.

A.J. Brown takes a subtle shot at quarterback Jalen Hurts
“The talent speaks for itself,” Brown said of Drake Maye via video from Mark Daniels at Patriots OTAs. “He can make any throw. But, I think what’s more impressive to me is that he knows what he’s doing. To be that young and to understand the defense, and to understand every little check, the hots, the blitz, all those things, so young and so fast it’s very impressive. And so, I really admire that.”
“He knows what he’s talking about. He demands everybody else to know as well. And he’s a true leader. He’s a true leader of men and it’s crazy to see at a young age. He’s a true leader of men.”
The “knows what he’s doing” part of that quote is certainly a shot at Hurts. There have long been rumors that the offense had to be neutered in terms of the passing attack to better suit Hurts’ capabilities.
Brown would certainly be a proponent of that, as he was seen being upset with Hurts and Sirianni multiple times last year. That, along with his admission that he and Hurts started to grow apart, just adds more fuel to the fire between those two.
Why is A.J. Brown saying all this?
There is no doubt that Brown is in the honeymoon stage of his time with the Patriots and of course, his relationship with Drake Maye. What’s odd about the press tour ever since he was traded is that Brown is the one who wanted out.
It’s not like he was traded against his will or out of nowhere, similar to what happened with him during his time in Tennessee. Brown essentially forced his way out of Philadelphia, yet it feels like he’s playing the victim card.
One thing is for sure: there will be no love lost between Brown, the Eagles, and the fans in Philadelphia.
