The Philadelphia Eagles finally did what everyone was waiting for and got their passing game going in Sunday’s Week 7, 28-22, win over the Minnesota Vikings.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts finished the day completing 19 of 24 passes for 326 yards and three touchdowns. That performance marked Hurts’ first 300-yard passing game since September of last year and the first time he ever finished with a perfect 158.3 passer rating.

It’s also worth noting that the Vikings came into Sunday with the NFL’s second-best defense in EPA, and Brian Flores has a reputation for confusing quarterbacks, but Hurts did not fall victim to it.

Hurts’ longest throw in the win was a 79-yard dime to No. 2 wide receiver DeVonta Smith for a touchdown. Smith wrapped up his day with a career-high 183 yards and one score.

Hurts also finally connected well with top receiver A.J. Brown, who had four catches for 121 yards.

Eagles’ message ahead of Week 7 worked out well for them

The Eagles had a simple message heading into Sunday’s game: “focus on yourself and your role.”

“For any of us to succeed in our job, we have to worry about ourselves and not focus on other things,’ head coach Nick Sirianni said on Friday before the game. “That’s something we always talk about is [that] there are a lot of outside distractions. There are distractions, and that could be with successes, that could be with failures. If you let yourself get into things that you can’t control or aren’t important, one or the other or both, then all you’re doing is limiting yourself at playing the best football or coaching your best football that you can.

“I think that’s just really important for all of us to [do], is lock in and focus on what we have to do because it’s within. You guys have heard me say this a million times, it’s within the process of your week that puts you in a state to play a good game and get you ready to play a good game. I love that because I think that’s always been our mindset here.”

That approach seemed to pay off, as the Eagles bounced back from two straight losses to improve to 5-2 and stay atop the NFC East.
