144 yards. That is what Philadelphia Eagles running back Miles Sanders amassed in a critical win over the New York Giants on Sunday.
His play this season has been one of the Eagles' driving forces on offense not named Jalen Hurts. Through 13 games, Sanders has already passed the century mark in rushing yards, collecting 11 touchdowns along the way. More impressive than everything, however, is that Sanders has embodied the idea that has made Philadelphia the most dangerous team in the league — improving every day.
"We’ve always been able to count on Miles, and we know he missed some time last year with some injuries with the ankle, but it is, it’s both," Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said of how Sanders has improved regarding his maturity.
"It’s that he’s been out there every single game, and he’s improving as a player. That’s our goal as a team is how do we get better every single day as a team; how do we get better every single day as an individual? Miles is a great example of that because he’s improved his game not only running the football but all those other things."
Miles Sanders' impressive run
Sanders is one of Philadelphia's best workers. He approaches the game with a sense of calm that satiates throughout the locker room. It's what sets him apart.
His play has garnered praise from some of his most trusted teammates. Specifically, after Sunday's game, Sanders received an uplifting message from A.J. Brown, the Eagles' other offensive superstar.
"We see how hard he works for it," he said. "He still has a lot more to go. That’s not where he’s going to end, but I know we’re all proud of him. We see the work he puts in."
What is impressive about Sanders is, like Hurts, he is rewriting the record books this season.
After Sunday, he was the only running back this season with 1,000-plus rushing yards, 10-plus touchdowns, zero fumbles, and a yards-per-carry average of five-plus yards.
It's clear that Sanders is enjoying a special season. Philadelphia's offense has banked on him all season. And moving forward, the Eagles will continue to do so.
