The Philadelphia Eagles enter Sunday's matchup with the New York Giants needing one thing — a win. The good news is reinforcements are on their way in the name of Gainwell. The 23-year-old second-year running back is finally finding his footing in the everyday rotation.
“Oh yeah, for sure,” Gainwell said when asked if he was finding his rhythm with more opportunities. “Just having the opportunity to show my talents and what I can do on the field, it’s just getting into the flow.”
In Philadelphia's 35-10 blowout of the Tennessee Titans, Gainwell pulled his weight with a 14-year reception. And in the last two games, Gainwell has 15 touches for 99 yards.
He isn't getting too ahead of himself, however. He's playing his role, and waiting his turn, to prove what he can be at an NFL level.
“You just gotta go day by day. You gotta understand that it’s going to be like that,” Gainwell said. “It’s no hard feelings, especially if you’re 11-1. It helps to be winning. You can’t be mad about it. The only thing you can do is create opportunity for yourself and work hard every day and put it on film.”
In 12 games, Gainwell amassed 278 scrimmage yards. Gainwell also already has four rushing touchdowns and is happy to play a role on the best team in the NFL.
“Man, you gotta be ready,” Gainwell said. “Take from practice to the field, practice to the field. How you practice every day, that’s how you get ready for game day. So I’m just making sure I practice hard.”
If Gainwell gets going, Philadelphia's offense just got a little bit scarier.
