When Broderick Jones suffered a stinger during the 2025 season, the initial thought was that the Steelers were being cautious with their decision to shut him down for the remainder of the season, especially with how well Dylan Cook was playing.

For most of the offseason, the Steelers haven’t had much to add about Jones’ recovery, and he was at the start of offseason workouts when April rolled around. But following the latest report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Pittsburgh may have to make a tough decision come Thursday.

Broderick Jones suffers setback in his recovery from season-ending neck injury

Now, here at A to Z Sports Pittsburgh, we have been mocking an offensive tackle to the Steelers for some time. Regardless of the neck injury, let’s be honest, Jones hasn’t lived up to being the 14th pick in the NFL Draft.

Of course, the Steelers are not without blame in that situation. Pittsburgh tried him at right tackle despite being raw at left tackle, and it clearly backfired. He showed promise in games last year, more than holding his own against the likes of Myles Garrett, but I don’t think anyone is confusing Jones with Trent Williams. But here is the issue with going LT in round one. What happens at quarterback for the Steelers?

Steelers may have to weigh LT vs. WR vs. QB in Round 1

We know, based on their pre-draft visits, that the Steelers are still interested in a WR despite the acquisition of Michael Pittman, and with Aaron Rodgers remaining unsigned and Will Howard taking first-team reps at voluntary minicamp, there is no clear answer there either.

So it’s a curveball to say the least for the Steelers, and just days before the draft begins.
