Steelers’ just proved that a wide receiver in round one is still on the table following latest set of pre-draft visits
Despite signing Michael Pittman Jr. and recent comments from Mike McCarthy about Roman Wilson, the Steelers are still interested in at least one elite WR prospect.
While it may feel like the dog days of the NFL offseason, there is a storm brewing, and it’s headed directly for Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In a matter of just two weeks, the entire NFL world, alongside another million-plus fans, will be inside the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers for the 2026 NFL Draft.
As we speak, three things are going on inside the UPMC Sports Complex on the southside of Pittsburgh. The first is draft meetings that will determine how the Steelers set their board. The second is that veterans have returned to the facility for the beginning of offseason workouts, and the third is pre-draft visits. Well, the latest trio is headlined by a player who proves the Steelers may not be done adding to their WR room.
Steelers host Denzel Boston to pre-draft visit
The Steelers are at least interested in Boston’s profile, which, in my opinion, they should be. A lot of the talk at WR in the class revolves around the big three of Carnell Tate, Makai Lemon, and Jordyn Tyson.
But Boston is arguably the most physically impressive player viewed among round one prospects. At 6-4 and close to 210 pounds, Boston plays above the rim and makes spectacular catches look routine. He averaged 63 catches, 858 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns over the last two years and is both versatile and physical, which fits the mold for Mike McCarthy.
What about Darrell Jackson and Jaden Dugger? I spoke with Ryan Roberts of A to Z Sports NFL Draft for more on them.
What would the Steelers get from Darrell Jackson?
“Darrell Jackson Jr. began his career at Miami, but did the unthinkable and became a valuable contributor for Florida State over the last couple of seasons. Blessed with massive size and long arms, Jackson does his best work playing at the point of attack. That skill set allows Jackson to play either in an even or odd front, bringing a solid floor as a run defender. Jackson also has an occasional flash as a penetrator, although they are very inconsistent. There are moments where Jackson is dominant, and others where he disappears. There is a lot to work with for a prospective defensive line coach but he will need to become more consistent from a snap to snap perspective.” – Roberts
What would the Steelers get from Jaden Dugger?
“After hearing how good Jaden Dugger looked during the East-West Shrine Bowl week, he became an intriguing overall study. A taller linebacker with great length, Dugger pops immediately on film. His overall athletic profile is extremely intriguing, possessing explosiveness and notable range. Dugger’s biggest issues are in terms of power and processing speed. The game moves very fast for him right now, while also possessing minimal pop in his hands to get off of blocks. There’s some intriguing upside to work here but Dugger is a long way from contributing on the NFL level.” – Roberts
