The wait is finally over — the Las Vegas Raiders have found their head coach and general manager, hiring Pete Carroll, the former Super Bowl-winning head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, and John Spytek, a Super Bowl-winning assistant GM with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And, with everything that has happened, this is really the best-case scenario for the Raiders after not landing Ben Johnson, who ended up taking the Chicago Bears job.

The Raiders put together a great staff for their front office but must finish putting together their coaching staff as well. We can assume a few names that will be on Carroll's radar for coordinators and position coaches, but the Raiders are almost ready to roll. Now, they can start to shift some of their focus to the 2025 NFL Draft and free agency.

2025 is going to be a very crucial year. Win or lose, this is going to be a year where we really see what the future could be like when Carroll and Spytek have maximized everything they have been given. And, while that's not with Ben Johnson or whoever else you wanted, it's okay to be excited.

This could be the best head coach GM pairing the Raiders have put together under Mark Davis. I know there are doubts, like Spytek's experience, or Carroll's age, but the Raiders have belief that they can get the job done.

And, hey, Carroll is already set to make NFL history anyway, before the 2024 NFL season is even over.

Raiders' Pete Carroll to be oldest coach in NFL history

The age thing is certainly something to be upset about. The Raiders have had so many different coaches in such a short amount of time. Having a revolving door of head coaches scares away players and head coaching candidates the next time they search for one. So, I get it.

But Carroll is a young 73. You have all seen him during practices.

But, this is a bit different, too. Carroll, when the season starts next year, is set to be 74, which would make him the oldest head coach in NFL history. In today's day and age, where the young minds are popular and ruling a lot of the NFL, besides guys like Andy Reid, that's a bad problem to have.
