Big news could be on the horizon for the Philadelphia Eagles, literally.

On Wednesday, the Eagles activated the 21-day practice window of rookie defensive tackle Jordan Davis. The run-stopper extraordinaire has missed the team’s last four games after suffering an ankle injury against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

While his status remains uncertain for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans, head coach Nick Sirianni sounded optimistic about his chances to suit up.

“He’s has a good week so far,” Sirianni told reporters on Friday. “Obviously don’t have to make a decision yet, but he’s looking good and we’re hopeful.”

If Davis gets the green light for Sunday it’s likely that the Eagles will ease him back in. By signing veteran interior defensive linemen Linval Joseph and Ndamukong Suh, defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon can rotate the trio to maximize productivity.

If there was any week the Birds needed to be sound in the trenches, it’s this week. The Titans are one of the NFL’s most physical football teams, who lean heavily on its superhuman running back, Derrick Henry.

Henry has the strength and the stamina to wear down prospective tacklers as games go on. With December having finally arrived, it will be a great test for the Eagles’ defensive front in a game that will surely have a playoff feel.
