The national media has created a narrative out of thin air about Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts that's completely absurd.
CBS Sports published an article this week that questioned whether or not Hurts shook Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' hand after the Eagles' loss in Super Bowl LVII.
According to CBS Sports, no photos or video of a handshake were captured.
It doesn't appear that Hurts has been asked about a handshake. CBS Sports is just creating a story where there isn't one. And it cast Hurts in a poor light.
Once the clock struck zero on Super Bowl LVII on Sunday, it appeared that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes actually didn't share a handshake. The Chiefs took a 38-35 lead on a late field goal with just eight seconds remaining and Hurts' hail mary attempt on the final play fell short.
Following that play, Hurts was seen jogging off the field at State Farm Stadium and down into the tunnel by himself, according to Fox Sports.
The alleged lack of a handshake wasn't touched on in any of the postgame press conferences and there are no photos of the two QBs shaking hands on the field after the game ended. It is of course possible that Hurts and Mahomes shared a moment together away from the field.

This is just completely absurd.
For starters, the only reason this is a story is because multiple media outlets are trying to create some drama where there doesn't need to be any.
Secondly, the two players shared a moment in the tunnel after the game.
The scene immediately after a Super Bowl can be chaotic. I would bet the last thing on Hurts' mind was getting to midfield to shake Mahomes' hand among the craziness.
And he also had just lost the biggest game of his life. There's no doubt it was an emotional moment for Hurts.
There's clearly a lot of respect between the two players. Hopefully, this narrative can end now — especially since it never should've been a thing.
