One of the Tennessee Vols' top remaining 2026 recruiting targets made an interesting decision this week.
2026 four-star athlete Joel Wyatt, the No. 2 player in the state of Tennessee (via 247Sports' composite rankings) is reportedly switching high schools ahead of his senior season.
Wyatt had been playing at The Webb School in Bell Buckle, TN.
The talented athlete, however, will play this fall at Oakland in Murfreesboro.
Tennessee signed four-star running back Daune Morris out of Oakland during the 2025 recruiting cycle.
It's unclear if Wyatt's move will have any impact on his recruitment, though it's worth pointing out that he'll be playing alongside 2026 four-star safety Craig Tutt at Oakland (Tutt is another one of the Vols' top recruiting targets).
Speaking of Wyatt's recruitment, this battle is down to Tennessee and Vanderbilt. The Commodores are reportedly selling Wyatt on the opportunity to play wide receiver and safety (his preferred position). The Vols, meanwhile, like Wyatt at outside linebacker. If Tennessee gives him the option to play at safety, it could be enough for the Vols to close the deal.
Wyatt originally planned to commit on July 6, but he postponed his decision. He doesn't currently have a set commitment date.
