In the upcoming NFL draft, the Cleveland Browns have plenty of areas in which they need to add players with their nine draft picks. After going 3-14 last season with a historically bad offense, the Browns have to get better on that side of the ball specifically.
David Njoku is a great weapon to have but the Browns like to use multiple tight needs. Blake Whiteheart has some value but he is not TE2 material and the Browns did not sign one.
That points to the likelihood that the Browns are going to be drafting a tight end and they will likely do it in the middle rounds. Cleveland is meeting with an intriguing prospect on Thursday who would fit the bill.
Cleveland Browns meeting with Oregon TE Terrance Ferguson
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Browns are meeting with Oregon standout TE Terrance Ferguson on Thursday. Ferguson will meet with the Carolina Panthers following his meeting with the Browns.
Ferguson upped his stock at the NFL Scouting Combine by having the best tight end testing out of any who participated. The Oregon tight end ran a 4.63 40-yard dash and leaped 39 inches in the vertical jump. That is a very athletic player and it is intriguing because the Browns have one of the NFL’s most athletic tight ends with Njoku. Adding more athleticism to the room would make the offense that much better.
At Oregon in 2024, Ferguson enjoyed his best season with 43 catches for 591 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The 6-foot-6 tight end has played a ton of football, 53 games in college to be exact, and made an impact from his freshman season at Oregon. Ferguson left Oregon with 134 catches, 1,537 receiving yards, and 16 total touchdowns.
According to NFL Mock Draft Database, Ferguson is most commonly mocked in the fourth round as the No. 99 pick. If the Browns can grab him anywhere in that third to fifth round range it could end up being a smart move.

Cleveland has done their homework on multiple tight ends in this draft and Ferguson is the latest. Andrew Berry is going to draft a tight end, we’ll soon see where.
