The Indianapolis Colts continue to do their final work on the 2025 NFL Draft class.

With the team traveling to Pro Days, hosting their own local Pro Day and hosting prospects in office for top 30 visits. A new name has been released as one of the Colts' top 30 visits, and it's a prospect who, this time last year, was being projected to hear his name called in the top five of the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Colts are scheduled to host Tennessee edge rusher James Pearce Jr. for a top 30 visit later this week. Pearce has been an interesting prospect for monitoring this cycle. His natural ability to rush the passer is hard to ignore, but he suffered some regression, with his sack numbers dropping from an SEC-high 10 in 2023 to 7.5 in 2024.

While his sack numbers dipped a bit, he recorded the most QB hurries of his career in 2024, logging 43, which is 15 more than the 28 he recorded in 2023. His 43 hurries is tied for the most of any defensive linemen receiving first-round buzz, the other player being Abdul Carter.

Pearce's draft stock has taken a hit because some people question his coachability and overall love for football. This meeting will allow the Colts to form their own opinion on Pearce, the person after they've already formed their opinion of him as a player from studying his film throughout the draft cycle. The Colts only have one edge rusher on their roster under contract past this upcoming season. That player is their 2024 first-round pick, Laiatu Latu, so they need to add talent there.
