Las Vegas Raiders are being given the answers to the test when it comes to who they should take on Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft

The Las Vegas Raiders let go of starting cornerback Jack Jones, boosting their need for a cornerback even further up their list, just two weeks before the 2025 NFL Draft. Now, they could see themselves picking a cornerback early on Day 2, or even Day 1.
If they were to get one that early, the best positional value would be to grab one in the second or third round. If they took one in the first round at pick No. 6, it would be an overdraft, that is, unless it's Trevor Hunter, who it feels like will not be there at No. 6. For it not to be a reach by the Raiders, they would have to trade back a few spots and then draft either Jahdae Barron or Will Johnson.
Or, since it feels like they will be drafting Ashton Jeanty at No. 6, they can draft a cornerback on Day 2. And, there are some good ones, too, some guys that could really help the Raiders climb the AFC West and compete with the Los Angeles Chargers, Denver Broncos, and Kansas City Chiefs.
One of those guys, and a guy that is being called the perfect Day 2 fit to the Raiders, is a Group of Five CB that has it all.
Prospect to target: CB Shavon Revel, East Carolina: Pete Carroll values length and physicality at the cornerback position as much as any coach in the NFL. Revel provides that in spades as an explosive athlete who can excel in press-man coverages. He would be a key addition to the Raiders’ 32nd-ranked coverage unit (30.4 PFF grade) from last season. – PFF
Shavon Revel Jr., a cornerback, began his college career at Louisburg College before transferring to East Carolina University. At 6’3” with a 4.40 40-yard dash, he’s a fast, physical defender, earning second-team All-AAC honors in 2023 with 12 pass breakups and an interception. An ACL injury in 2024 ended his season early, but he remains a projected first- or second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, now likely a second rounder.
The Raiders need a guy who has the potential to be CB1 on the team, and the only reason that Revel will even be available in the second round is because of the injury. But, he's that good — he's a superstar CB in the making. And, as PFF said, it's the perfect fit for what Pete Carroll likes.
Look at Carroll when he was with the Seattle Seahawks — Richard Sherman, Brandon Browner, Riq Woolen, Devon Witherspoon, and a few others are prime examples of this prototype of cornerback. Revel fits it.
