The 2025 NFL Draft is next week, and all we've really been talking about are the players that the Detroit Lions might draft. The 2025 NFL Draft is next week, and all we've really been talking about are the players that the Detroit Lions might draft. What about the guys who are projected not to be drafted that the Lions have shown plenty of interest in? Let's talk about those guys. In particular, let's talk about the 10 of them who have received the most interest from the Lions.
Lan Larrison, RB, UC-Davis
This guy is getting a lot of attention lately, but how many teams were crazy enough to bring him in for a top-30 visit? The Lions were.
Larrison was probably the best offensive player in the FCS last year. He had a total of 2,387 all-purpose yards and 23 touchdowns for UC-Davis. 1,465 yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground and 847 yards and six touchdowns through the air.
While Larison was primarily a running back in college, it's the receiver position that makes a lot of sense for him with the Lions. He also has a lot of return man possibilities.
Ruben Hyppolite, LB, Maryland
Running a 4.39 40-yard dash at his pro day got a lot of people talking about him. It certainly got the Lions' attention, they brought him in for a top-30 visit.
He played middle linebacker for Maryland, and he had 66 tackles and 7 tackles for a loss last year. There's some potential there with him that just hasn't been tapped yet. You wonder if he could potentially be a pass rusher.
Chaz Chambliss, LB, Georgia
Another projected undrafted player who is making some noise and came in for a top-30 visit with the Lions. Chambliss is an outside linebacker who can play the edge in a depth role. He came off the bench for Georgia last year and put up 16 pressures and seven sacks.
Ian Kennelly, S, Grand Valley State
I just find it really interesting that of all the players we were able to find multiple meetings for this draft, you see a bunch of Division 1 guys who are expected to go as high as the first-round, and then Kennelly. That tells me interest is high.
Kennelly had a strong season for the Lakers with 64 tackles, three pass breakups, three interceptions, a forced fumble, and a blocked punt. This team employed two undrafted safeties on their 53-man roster last year. Maybe Kennelly could get a shot.
7 players who are mathematically expected to be available for the Lions with the 28th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft
The 2025 NFL Draft is just over a week away, and the one thing on every Detroit Lions fan's mind is who is going to be there for the Lions with the 28th pick? We might be able to answer that with math. There have been hundreds and hundreds of mock drafts since the 2024 […]
