One of the Tennessee Vols' top 2026 recruiting targets is five-star running back Savion Hiter.
Hiter, 5-foot-11/200 lbs from Mineral, Va., is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 running back in the country and the No. 17 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.
Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, and Tennessee are viewed as the top four contenders for Hiter.
On Wednesday, a report from On3's Steve Wiltfong suggested that it's Michigan and Tennessee that are currently at the top of this recruiting battle.
"I still think it's Michigan and Tennessee when [it's] all said and done," said Wiltfong when asked who he thinks is at the top of Hiter's recruitment. "Those are the programs I'm watching the most right now."
Hiter saw that report on Wednesday evening and offered a sharp reply via a post on Twitter/X.com.
"Where does this stuff come from when I’ve done 0 interviews," wrote Hiter.

Witlfong almost certainly has information from a variety of sources, so I don't think Hiter's comments are enough to discredit Wiltfong's reporting.
Hiter's comments, however, do show us how volatile recruiting can be — and how quickly things can change. Until a player signs, nothing is definitive. And even then, thanks to the NCAA transfer portal, things can still quickly change.
There's still a long way to go in Hiter's recruitment. Even if Wiltfong is right that it's Michigan and Tennessee at the top, all it takes is one visit or phone call for a program like Ohio State to suddenly surge to the front of this recruiting battle.
