Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley is the cover man for Madden 26, but technically there's another player also featured on it.
That would be Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jarrian Jones, although his name nor his jersey number is shown. The image is of Barkley leaping backwards over Jones, which became an instant classic highlight reel play when the Eagles and Jaguars squared off in Week 9 of the 2024 season.
Many have wondered if Jones would be embarrassed about the play gracing the cover of Madden 26, but he was a good sport about it as he finally commented on it following Jacksonville's first day of mandatory minicamp on Tuesday.
"Shit was kind of hard, for real," Jones said with a smile on his face. "I've seen it. I don't have Twitter, so I seen it on Instagram. I was like, damn, they didn't put my number on there. The play was fire to me. Everybody (direct messaged) me like I was going to be mad or something. I don't give a damn. He made a good play, it is what it is."
Jones was then asked if he would have liked his jersey number shown on the cover.
"They got to pay me for it," Jones joked. "But I don't care, really. I don't really play Madden anyways."
It's good that Jones has a good attitude about the cover and appears unphased by it. There's certainly no shame in falling victim to a great play by a player the caliber of Barkley. Jones has bigger things to worry about, like building off his solid rookie season for the Jaguars.
In 2024 he recorded 40 total tackles, eight passes defensed, and one interception. He earned a 69.0 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, and ranked sixth out of 222 CBs in run defense grade. Jones started four games last season and will compete to be a permanent starter in 2025.
