Mr. October met Mr. February on a June night in Kansas City this week.

Baseball Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson linked up with Kansas City Chiefs (and future Pro Football Hall of Famer) quarterback Patrick Mahomes at the Royals' game against the New York Yankees on Tuesday night.

Jackson spent one season as a pro athlete in Kansas City, playing his rookie season for the Kansas City Athletics in 1967. The A's moved to Oakland in 1968.

While in Oakland, Jackson accomplished a feat that very few pro athletes have ever accomplished — and it's a feat that Mahomes is still chasing.

Jackson and the Athletics won three straight World Series titles from 1972 to 1974.

Aside from the New York Yankees, the A's are the only MLB franchise to win three championships in a row (the Yankees were the last to accomplish the feat, winning three straight titles from 1998 to 2000).

No NFL franchise has ever won three straight Super Bowls.

Mahomes and the Chiefs had a chance to accomplish a three-peat this past season, but the Chiefs lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, coming up just one game short of accomplishing the historical feat.

There's still plenty of time for Mahomes, who will turn 30 in September, to lead the Chiefs to three straight wins in the Super Bowl, but sustaining that type of success three seasons in a row is unprecedented in the NFL. It'll take more than just Mahomes' elite quarterback skills to get the job done (cue Brett Veach's music).

Of course, that won't deter Mahomes from trying to accomplish the feat. The former Texas Tech standout is as competitive as anyone in the sport, and there's no doubt that he believes he's capable of leading the Chiefs to three straight championships.
