The Las Vegas Raiders are trying to feel things out this offseason — trying to see how life will be in this new regime. This time, their head coach is one who has won a Super Bowl as a head coach before, let alone been a successful one before, let alone been one before.
Pete Carroll won a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks against the Denver Broncos, so he is all too familiar with beating the Raiders' biggest rival. Of course, he went to another Super Bowl but lost to the New England Patriots.
He's had so much success in the NFL, and a big reason why is because of how he does things. He does it his way, and his way has worked. But his way is a bit different. He's fun, he's energetic, he's upbeat, and he's just a guy who loves football, and you can't really replicate what it is that he does, or how he gets his players to play so hard for him.
But on Thursday, the Raiders finally got to see what Carroll is all about when it comes to practices in the offseason. Yes, it's mandatory minicamp, so yes, it is a little bit more serious than OTAs are. But, there is always time to have fun as long as your players are putting the work in.
Now we aren't really sure what was happening, but there are videos going around from their practice on Thursday that show someone, who looks to be a coach or staff member, inside one of those giant bubble balls, or hamster wheels, whatever you want to call it. And that person is running in the giant ball, and the players look to be dodging it.
I know it's weird reading it. But it looks fun, and it's certainly different.
That's what Carroll is all about.
