Tennessee football is an undeniable brand in the United States. The Power T logo and smokey are unmistakable icons of the Volunteers State and in collegiate athletics.
However, that brand isn't limited to just the continental US. ESPN sideline reporter Holly Rowe found that out recently on a trip to France.
Rowe posted on Twitter that she was having dinner at a restaurant – L'Assiette Champenoise – in Tinqueux, a small region east of Paris, and her chef came out to say hello. And he was wearing a Tennessee hat sporting a big Power T.
"Having dinner at a 3 Michelin star restaurant in France. Chef comes out to say hello. Not kidding-he is a HUGE @Vol_Football fan. Around the world and finding Vol love @ChampenoiseL", Rowe wrote on Twitter/X.
Tennessee football has been in plenty of big games in recent years with Josh Heupel turning the program around after a decade and a half of futility, and the Vols have done numbers on the television ratings returns. And of course, that's not to considering the behemoth that Phillip Fulmer turned the program into during the 1990s that created legions of new fans along the way. As such, it's not too much of a surprise to see the Tennessee brand across the Atlantic.
Perhaps the university could coordinate a reunion between the chef and Rowe at Neyland Stadium for a game this fall. And perhaps they could have some fun with it. After all, surely a chef at a Michelin-star restaurant could come up with a better gameday menu than hot dogs, popcorn, and pretzels.
Phillip Fulmer’s legacy with Tennessee football just continued in a big way on Monday
More than just the former coach’s legacy will be with the team for the coming years
